1. Course Description:
The computer skills course provides trainees with knowledge that can be applied to their classes and life after graduation. It is designed to be practical and teach the trainees about online safety, social media literacy and basic computer skills such as email and key Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. In the final year, trainees learn skills to use the computer for job searches and preparing employment application documentation. The purpose of the computer skills program is to provide opportunities for trainees to understand the importance, benefits and issues related to computers , the internet and social media in today’s society. Trainees also learn how to use computers in job searches and the job application process.
2. Objectives:
Learners become more active and confident in using the internet safely as well as an awareness of the benefits and potential side effects of social media. Trainees also learn the basics of email and Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint and apply these skills in their other classes such as recipe creation and making presentations for life skills and the monthly trainee meeting. Using these skills , trainees prepare their job application documentation on the computer for their internships and update these again prior to graduation. Make the learners’ perceptions change in a positive way.
3. Hours:
Across the 24-month program, trainees will receive 150 hours of computer skills training.
