If you know one you should teach one
“KOTO stands for Know One, Teach One and reflects our belief that if you're in a position where you can help someone less fortunate, then you should help them and the greatest thanks you can receive is to one day see that person be in a position to do the same for someone else.” Jimmy Pham – KOTO Founder & Global Ambassador
English for Hospitality
The purpose of the curriculum is to prepare the trainees for careers in the food and beverage industry in Vietnam and possibly other foreign countries. It focuses on practical situations to provide them with a working knowledge of hospitality English. The program also promotes strategies for self-study in order to provide the trainees with skills to continue learning on their own, even after graduation.
The KOTO English training program covers a period of 24 months and is composed of five main courses ranging from basic communicative English to English for hospitality to English for job applications.
1) Basic Pronunciation
2) General English
3) English for Food and Beverage staff
4) English for Job application
5) Communicative English
During the first year, the trainees receive six face-to-face contact hours of English per week, three hours per week during the first half of the second year and four hours during the last six months as they are completing their internships at external hospitality settings.
Trainees are also provided with numerous opportunities to practice English outside of the classroom. They will also be able to take advantage of the realistic training environment at the KOTO Van Mieu Training Restaurant and other hotels and restaurants during their internships, where they will interact and practice serving both domestic and international customers. There is also a well-stocked resource centre which trainees are encouraged to access outside of class hours.
Tutoring extra hours:
For trainees who struggle to maintain the level expected, are provided with three hours of additional tutorial classes each week. Our English teaching department which includes both Vietnamese English teachers and expatriate volunteers work with the trainees to improve their confidence and English language proficiency.
