KOTO congratulates trainee Pham Van Quyen on winning the inaugural National Barista Championship 09 held recently in Hanoi.
“To be crowned the greatest barista in the country is an amazing achievement and Mr Quyen should be very proud of himself,” said KOTO Hanoi General Manager, Ms Dian Cox.
Head judge and chairman of the championship organising committee, Mr Laurent Casteret praised Mr Quyen for all aspects of his coffee making.
“Quyen was very confident and well organised, his technical ability with the grinder and tamping, use of the steaming wand and overall technique, produced outstanding and consistent output.
“There was strong competition and we were very impressed with the skill level of all the competitors,” said Mr Casteret.
Competitors were assessed on their technical skills as well as the taste and presentation of a variety of coffees they were required to make.
“We are so proud of the two trainees who represented KOTO in the championship. To be among the best 13 baristas in the country is a wonderful achievement and I hope they enjoyed the experience and learnt a lot,” said Ms Cox.
