“FIRST TIME EVER” KOTO Fundraising Event at Sofitel on Collins Melbourne 5 December 2011 On Monday evening 5 December Sofitel on Collins fully supported a KOTO fundraising event. The cocktail event was held in the Victoria Suites at the Sofitel Hotel. The room was beautifully decorected with decorative bowls and candles together with cocktail tables and lounges where guests could get together with family and friends in a firendly and relaxed atmosphere. The fundraising event was to support the much needed funds for KOTO to empower disadvantaged and street kids through their training at the KOTO training centres and restaurants in Hanoi and Saigon. Mr Nam KOTO Class 1 graduate organised this fundraising event with the support of KOTO International as part of his Diploma of Business at Box Hill Institute course requirements. Mr Nam, who has been in melbourne for 18 months and Ms Van who arrived to Melbourne in October 2011 to study Hospitality Management at Box Hill Institute were interview by MC Malcolm Brown and they talked about their lives before KOTO, during KOTO and after graduating from KOTO. It was an evening of fun with fabulous food and drinks, a jazz band who donated their time and expertise and lots of great auction items and raffle prizes. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Fundraising Events Australia September 2011 KOTO International held 3 fundraising events in Adealide in September 2011. The Spice Kitchen Indian restaurant in Adelaide and The Lotus Chinese Restaurant were generous in their support of 2 fundraising dinners. One was held on 6 September and the other on 7 September 2011. Thanks go to Regini of Spice Kitchen and Wendy of The Lotus for thier support and generosity. Thanks also go to Meredith Lines and Kathy Orfanos for the wonderful assistance in the organisation of these events in Adelaide. Lorette Brown of KOTO International appreciates the help of our 2 wonderful Adelaide representatives Meredith and Kathy in applying the final touches to the events and for arranging the raffles. Both dinners were fully booked and everyone had a great time. The auctions were a great success as auctioned were many items that Jimmy Pham had brought from Vietnam. The third event was held at the Piltarilla Function Centre at Heathfield High School in the beautiful Adelaide Hills. The dinner was prepared by the students of Heathfiled High school and Mr Doan, KOTO graduate who came from Vietnam with Jimmy Pham for the fundraising trip to Australia. The food was themed on the flavours of Vietnam and each course was a delicious and beautifully presented. Thank you to Steve Mcvicar and all of the staff at Heathfield High School for their generosity in sponsoring the dinner for KOTO. The night included a slde presentation of the Heathfield High School school triop to vietnam in July 2011. KOTO is honoured to have such a great connection with the staff and students of Heathfield High School.

KOTO International and Reagan Milstein Foundation Support
Lorette Brown of KOTO International was fortunate to meet Kevin Milstein of the Reagan Milstein Foundation (RMF) in July 2011.
The Reagan Milstein Foundation was created in memeory of a popular sports loving teenager, Reagan, who died tragically in July 2010.
RMF raises funds to assist youngsters who may not have the opportunity to play football, with a special interest in Indigenous Australian Youth. RMF also raises funds to help in the growth of Reagan's Club, the North Caulfield Maccabi JFC in Melbourne, Australia.

Following discussions between Lorette Brown of KI and Kevin Milstein of RMF, Kevin Milstein visited Jimmy Pham when Jimmy was in Melbourne on 1 September. Kevin very generously and kindly presented Jimmy with some footballs for him to take back to Vietnam for the KOTO trainees.
Thank you to RMF for the support of the sport program that forms part of the curriculum at the KOTO Training Centres in Vietnam.

The footballs will arrive in Vietnam in September 2011 and photos of the trainees with their donated footballs will be posted on theis website in early October.

First Ever Fundraising Event Auckland New Zealand 4 September 2011 at CAFE HANOI

KOTO International representatives Lorette and Malcolm Brown accompanied Jimmy Pham and KOTO Hanoi Class 10 graduate chef Mr Doan Van Pham to Auckland New Zealand for KOTO's first ever fundraising event across the Tasman!
Cafe Hanoi fully supported KOTO by providing a most delicious Vietnamese dinner to raise funds for the KOTO Project in Hanoi and Saigon.
Tony and Krishna, Jason and Hector and the team at Cafe Hanoi provided a top class gourmet Vietnamese dinner for 72 guests at their new restaurant in the centre of Auckland.
The atmosphere throughout the evening was enhanced by the music of the Cafe Hanoi String Quartet.
Jimmy Pham and Mr Doan brought some Vietnamese quilts and water puppets from Vietnam for the auction on the evening.
Other items on auction were wine, champagne and a spectacular decanter.
Much of the food and fine wines were donated by a number of Cafe Hanoi's suppliers.
In thanks to his suppliers Tony McGeorge and his team at Cafe Hanoi held a suppliers lunch at the restaurant on Sunday 4 Sepetember.
Jimmy Pham and Lorette and Malcolm Brown of KOTO International had the opportunity of getting to know the suppliers and thanked them for their support.
Mr Doan was able to gain some valuable experience in the Cafe Hanoi kitchen working alongside Jason and his team of fine chefs.
Once again Tony and his team created a wonderful culinary experience for everyone at the lunch.
All the funds raised are transferred to The KOTO Project in Vietnam. Cafe Hanoi is also sponsoring a trainee at the KOTO Training Centre in Saigon.
KOTO also hopes to run an exchange programme with Cafe Hanoi as a new initiative and partnership between Cafe Hanoi and KOTO.
The restaurant's chefs will train in Vietnam, while Koto graduates will gain work experience in the Auckland restaurant.
KOTO International and KOTO Vietnam look forward to a long lasting relationship with Cafe Hanoi in Auckland.
